Peter Kirk, mentions that he has had many disagreements with Adrian Warnock over the years. But in the first part of a review at Gentle Wisdom » Resurrection he strongly agrees that it is of concern that the resurrection is often not included in gospel presentations. His review will continue over several posts as he reads the book.

A blog entitled For the Elect Alone has reviewed Raised With Christ and come up with the slightly confusing notion that it is promoting an Arminian perspective. But, he also lists a number of  modern reformed teachers and says they are Arminians too.

Our author rightly places such importance on the resurrection that he defines a Christian as:“…someone who believes in the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ and lives in light of the implications of that event.” The issue of course, as Adrian concedes, is what precisely are those ‘implications’? And this drives the theme of Raised with Christ – why the resurrection is so important; the ways in which we can be changed by it; the consequences of the resurrection for our thinking and behaviour.

The Janet Mefferd show has just gone nationwide across the USA.  In fact an interview with Adrian Warnock on Raised With Christ was part of their first ever national show.  The interview was dynamic and Janet seemed to press Adrian’s buttons so he got excited.  You can download the MP3 or visit the show’s website to find out more.

Adrian Warnock is attending the Desiring God Pastors Conference this week, after which he will be visiting a few American churches, and will speak at some of them.  Raised With Christ is included in a list of recommended books available at the conference, and Adrian will be part of a “meet the author” session during the event.

I admit that I often focus on the Cross of Christ but neglect the importance of the resurrection and I thank Mr. Warnock for penning this reminder. The book is filled with many personal examples, quotes from theologians (young/old, dead/alive) and practical applications for the resurrection. Check out the book I do not think you will be disappointed.

Several different electronic editions are now available to order.  If you have a Kindle, you can now order a copy for immediate delivery.  There is now a Kindle for iPhone application so you can buy and read Kindle books without paying for a dedicated reader.

Logos Bible Software continues to offer Raised With Christ on their pre-publication list, although the nature of that system is that there is no guarantee when or if they will actually produce it. Logos also have an iPhone app which functions as a pretty good reader for their electronic books.

For blackberrys and other PDAs, a Mobipocket version is already shipping.

I think Warnock’s concern is a legitimate one, and I’m looking forward to getting a copy of the book. There are a myriad of theological implications in the resurrection, and it is good to recognize that the work of Christ, and the gospel itself, is incomplete without it.

Normally eBay is associated with bargains, right?  Not in this case. Someone has listed ten copies of RWC for more than the cover price.

Presumably this is for people who are struggling to find the book elsewhere.  It does go to show that in this Internet age you need to be careful where you buy. Price is one factor, but it is not the only one.  For example:

• Buying from a physical local Christian bookshop helps to ensure they do not disappear from our towns, and makes it more likely that the book you like will be stocked there in the future.
• Buying direct from a publisher who is a non-profit like Crossway means that more of the profit is channeled  into their ministry and to the author.
